FELT NEED
- The third wave of Toffler… was here… and gone
- Family – Joint Family
- Work – Village/ Agrp Based
- Time – Predominant Family Time
- Resources – Limited
- Family – Nuclear Family
- Work – City Living
- Time – Restricted Family Time
- Resources – Adequate
- Family – Single/ Georaphycally displaced
- Work – Entire Globe became the playing field
- Time – Scarce Commodity
- Resources – Abundant
- The structure of modern society is taking its toll on everyone.
- Time become directly proportional to resources ie although the resources are abundant, the time is extremely limited. Also, the changing nature of technology, which in one way brought the resources closer, the rapid changes drew them further from the previous generations.
- However, the stress of modern living and trying to keep up with changing society norms and technology. with restricted energy reserves restrict the avenues.
- One of the major social impact of this changing societal structures – absence of support system – for all generations – the young, the working and the retired.
- This created a great stress on each and every gen and placed a great demand on time, effort and energy
- Working Generation lack time
- Retired Generation lack support
- On the other hand is the younger generation have their own set of stress factors, career, move to new places in pursuit of a career, taking care of family without any support system etc. While they manage most on their own, it does take toll on their time. Distance and time add additional burden and stress and most importantly, a sense of frustration to affectively take care of issues back home. This, creating a void between “want” and “doing”.
- To address this void, a need has been felt for
- 360 degree – catering for all needs.
- Safe, secure and reliable support system – totally dependable.
- A tailor-made support system – catering for individual needs as per individual wishes.
- It should be a single point single call service.
- Doesn’t upset the existing systems but strengthen where required by plugging in the gaps.
- Mutual respect between the service seeker and service provider.
IF YOU HAVE THE WANT, WE WILL DO IT FOR YOU
What do we do
Recent data shows a declining trend in familial support for older adults in India due increasing nuclear families and separation from children. According to a study, parents living alone or with their spouse, without children increased from 22 % in 2011 to 27 % in 2017-18.
Traditionally older parents received support in their day to-day life from their spouse or older children. However, with a large number of young adults migrating out of India, such a close-knit, home based support system is also declining.
While there are many medical support groups, top notch elder care facilities & retirement homes in India; we are still missing a support system that provides varied services, at homes of the elderly.
At Sahyog Jyoti, our attempt is to re-create this close-knit, intuitive, reliable system that responds to individual needs, at per time, pace and space that is asked of us.
